I went snorkeling...

This is the crew as we were starting our hike
to the mumu. From left to right you have:
Therese, Me, Mark, Tom, and one of the guards
that works at the base with all of his family. I don't know any of their names.

...and got FRIED!!! When we first got in the water it was pretty cloudy, so we didn't even think of using sunblock. We played up near the shore for a little bit, with the kids. Oh, it was Angie, the kids, Robyn, Levi, and Michael. Chris had to work, so he didn't get to go with us. Anyway, after about twenty minutes Angie and I geared up, and headed around the tree. There's a tree that overhangs the water, and just past the tree is the good snorkeling area. We had Robyn and Levi watch the kids while we were out, and then we traded places so they could go together. It worked out great. Angie and I took the kids inner tubes, draped ourselves over them, and admired the murky deeps. Actually, I have no idea who came up with the "murky deeps," but they obviously haven't been snorkeling in the ocean. Or at least not on the right day. The water was the clearest gorgeousest blue I've ever seen.

We both had some technical difficulties with our gear. My mask was leaking, and Angie's mouthpiece was too. When my mask would get too full my eyes would start burning, and I'd have to come up, empty my mask, and get it properly adjusted again before I could go back down. I think Angie had it worse though. She said about every fifth breath she'd get a mouthful of salt water. Yuck! We saw three different star fish, two the regular brownish color, and one a brilliant blue. Actually, Jael found one of the blue guys up where she was swimming. At first we thought it was a fake, but it turned out to be real. We also saw a bunch of clown fish, some rainbowy type fish, and a bunch of other really cool stuff. Anyone who hasn't gone snorkeling before should try it sometime. I think the plan is to go again in the next week, so Chris can go too. I'm going to try to remember to pick up an underwater camera next time we're in town, so that I can get some pictures.

Robyn was warning me that I might feel claustrophobic, so I was all prepared for that, but except for getting scared out of my wits a couple times I was fine. At one point my hair floated directly in front of my mask, and I tried to scream but came up spluttering : p. But the time that really got to me, was when I was behind Angie, but didn't realize how close I was to her, until her flipper was only about two inches from my face!

I need to get going... as usual. Robyn and Levi are coming over to play some games in a couple minutes. Only twelve days until I'm HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not excited am I?? It's a little hard to tell sometimes. : D. See you all soon!!!
