Mibu...finally!

Tuesday morning I got up, finished packing, ate breakfast, and got picked up by one of NTM's (New Tribes Mission) pilots at about 5:30.
Karen and Mark were up, but no one else was. Karen told me that she doesn't get up that early for just anyone. So I feel honored. Mark is usually up by that time anyway. So they hugged me and sent me on my way! I'll probably see Tom and Karen on my way back through, but who know's if I'll ever see Mark and Therese again.
So we drove to the airport, had all of our stuff, and us weighed, loaded up into two small planes (one for people, one for stuff) and flew into Saidor. From there we were helicoptored into Mibu. We had to do it in four different trips, because of all the supplies going in. Chris came out on the first flight, and I went in on the second, so I did get to see him for a minute before he left.
My cabin is a little ways away from the Walkers house, not too far though. It has about everything you would normally need, except for electricity. The inverter that runs the Walkers house, my cabin and I think the Husa's place, was not working so it got sent in to be fixed. It should be back on January 2 which is when the next flight into here is. Chris is hiking back so they don't have to pay for the helicopter. I guess it's about a twelve hour hike. Sounds fun huh??
I have experienced two minor earthquakes now. The first was while I was still in Lapilo, and was so slight I wouldn't have realized it, if Tom and Karen hadn't said something. The second was the day I got here. I was in my cabin when I felt it. So I laid on my bed watching the water in the bottle on my table slosh around. Nothing really big yet though. Joey is predicting that I'll be terrified if we do have a big one. He's very comforting:P.
I've also had the chance to see how the grass is cut... It's very interesting. The native men who work here do it with machetes! One of the guys had a couple pigs with him. So in between grunting to get them to follow him, he greeted me. Very strange! The pigs started following me as I was heading down to my cabin. I think the owner was watching to see what I would do... Scream, run, or who knows what! I just looked at them, told them they were following the wrong person, and grinned at the owner. He laughed and then called them over to him.
I have had my first lesson in pidgin today! Angie taught me a few of the more common sentences. My real lessons don't start until next week. My language helper, Nancy, will be teaching me then. I have met Nancy though. She doesn't know very much English, so this could be fun.
I think I'm going to go read for a while. I haven't been feeling very good today. Lukim yu bihain! (See you later... it's pronounced about the way it looks).
