Only 39 more days!!!

Abby and I have been keeping track of how much longer we have to survive the separation. This last week was really tough for me actually. I was talking to Mom on the phone on Monday and she mentioned that Abby was really sick. I was very seriously considering flying down to rescue my poor deserted sister, and then... well, I remembered that she did have her husband with her, so I called her instead. It wasn't quite the same, but at least I didn't spend money that I don't have or miss any classes. And besides that, by the time I'd heard that she was sick, she was already doing a lot better anyway. And of course, by the time I was done talking to her she was on top of the world! Not really, but it sounded good.

Not much else has happened since I last posted though. Oh, I just remembered a good story that I forgot to put on here last time. OK, my poor car has been having some serious difficulties lately. My check engine light was on, and I had an appointment scheduled for it, because I knew it was the oxygen sensor and it needed to be replaced. Then, the day before it went in for to get that taken care of, I had another little... accident. After the classes were all done for the day, I drove back home (David and Terry's), and as I was pulling into the driveway I remembered that I needed to check the oil. So I parked the car, popped the hood, checked it, and found that it was a little low. So I grabbed my jug of oil, started pouring it in, and I was doing so, I accidentally spilled some on the outside. No big deal, right?? Wrong! It actually started on fire! I'm usually a very calm person in an emergency, but I kind of got a little... well, lets just say that I was the opposite of calm! So I started huffing and puffing on there trying to put it out, but if anything it seemed to be fanning the flames. So I raced up to the house, tried the doorknob, only to discover to my absolute horror that it was locked. So I pounded on the door for a few seconds, then raced back to puff at the flames again. It almost went out a couple times, but as soon as I ran out of air it would flare back up again. I finally decided that I would just have to go get some water. I grabbed my keys, let myself inside, raced into the kitchen, snatched up the pitcher sitting on the counter, and started filling it up. I never noticed before that how slow that faucet was, but let me tell you, it took forever! Finally when it was about a third of the way full I gave up on it and raced back outside only to discover that the fire was already out. It was still smoking quite heavily, but there didn't appear to be any damage. So the next day when I took it into the car shop, I had to confess what I'd done (you should have seen the guy's facial expression!), and ask them to check it out and make sure there wasn't any damage done. As it turned out, there wasn't any, but it did cost me a little extra, because of all the burnt grease they had to clean off so that they could see underneath it =P.

So that's the exciting news for now. I guess the other interesting tidbit would be that I will be moving on campus next semester. Should be an interesting change. I really don't want to have a half hour drive to and from school every day in the snow though. I really dislike driving in the winter. It's just not my cup of tea. Maybe I should move to Louisiana...

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Goodness Anna!!! Your car was on fire and you didn't call to tell me?!? :D Yikes :). Good thing it didn't blow up while you were standing over it huffing and puffing!!

And you're moving on campus?!? Nobody ever tells me anything. Maybe I should check your blog more often ;D.
